California in December

Just a UKer’s perspective on US distances. In my younger days, I used to like criss-crossing the US. I once drove from Calgary to Vancouver, took a sharp left and headed down the Pacific coast to San Diego (with a detour to Tijuana, just so I could say I’d been to Mexico).

Another trip was from SF, through Yosemite and Death Valley (now that is one awesome place), via Las Vegas and the Hoover dam, over the Rockies, and ending up in Denver. I’ve done similar trips on the eastern side, too.

Yes, you do spend countless hours traversing mind bogglingly dull scenery sometimes, but when you get to where you’re going to, it usually makes up for it. Often, you turn a bend (metaphorically sometimes) and you come across unexpected places and people. Incidentally, why is it that you Yanks are generally such nice and welcoming people?

Brilliant Ideas to think about thank you.

Don’t worry we both have very strong stomachs and don’t suffer from car sickness! Thankfully, touch wood, I haven’t been sick for ages!

Because we want you to give us money.

Kidding. I’m not sure of the answer, though.

Yes, D.V. is like another planet, isn’t it? I’ve been there twice and it’s still fascinating.
