This is only the [2nd pack of wolves](https://www.yahoo.com/news/2nd-pack-gray-wolves-spotted-northern-california-024015492.html) spotted in CA since their extinction in the state almost 100 years ago. Well, I think this is pretty dang cool. Wolves, finally back in California. Maybe we get some ā€œgrizzer bahrā€ next! Itā€™s also pretty well understood that apex predators, like wolves, are really good for the ecosystem, and you donā€™t even need that many of them. They are, after all, _hungry like the wolf_! Should we name the Alpha Female ā€œRioā€? Kinda masculine, but hey. ---

Yep. Killing deer is one the reasons we want wolves in the first place! I have no doubt we can manage to keep raising livestock and coexist with a few wolves. ---
