Yeah, on only a couple of maps I’ll use the enhanced zoom. Everything else gets the ACOG.
I don’t know how to snipe. On the few occasions I’ve had to pick up a sniper rifle when I ran out of bullets, it took me several shots to get any kills. If I have to go into Hazard (which apparently is the new sniper’s wet dream) I grab an M16 with an ACOG on it and do ok. I may try out a sniper/ACOG in that map, see how that goes.
…Unless you like the G11 and you’re having good connections. That thing is a fucking death stick.
I’ve tried the G11 and I like it but… For some reason (probably the connection) the thing is extremely unreliable for me. Some matches it is a monster gun, and some other matches I can’t get a kill even with 3 or 4 bursts into somebody’s chest. A few prestiges ago I decided to only use guns I don’t see others using (so nothing on the top 5 of guns I get killed by), but practicality forced me to drop some weapons that are truly crap and a pain to get kills with. The G11 was the last weapon I decided to drop, because of the unreliability.
I’ve never used the G11 on a consistent basis. It just doesn’t work for me. Putting a sight on it only makes it worse.
All these “killer” weapons that I can’t use. It’s a shame.
Yeah, if the fates aren’t with you, it just spawns hit markers. The low power scope is useless on it, and on bigger boards, variable zoom can be fun.
If you’e not using the Famas, you’re not using the best overall weapon in the game. The Galil isn’t bad, but it’s rate of fire is a little slow. The AK is nice to use, too. The Commando is also nice. However, the Famas is pretty clearly the best assault rifle, even after it got nerfed.
Airman Doors, what do you use?
The AUG, typically, with a red dot if I’m running Hardline or a suppressor if I’m running Ghost. Until I level up to get it unlocked I go with the Famas, which, as you say, is a good gun.
My standard go-to layout is the AUG with suppressor, Crossbow (or Strela-3 if I haven’t unlocked the Crossbow yet, or Makarov with the iron sights upgrade if neither are available), Concussion grenades, Frag grenades, a Claymore, with Ghost Pro, Sleight of Hand Pro, and Hacker Pro. I like being virtually invisible yet able to see the traps people set. I also like to be able to suck people into hacked care packages. Lotsa fun there.
I almost never deviate from those unless I’m screwing around. Since I Prestige every time, getting Pro perks other than those usually just get me killed a lot for no gain. Not even Hardline Pro is that useful for me, though God knows I’d like to get something other than a Spy Plane or Counter-Spy Plane out of my care packages on occasion. No, I use those and level up about as fast as I can for my skill level, which is admittedly average. The Sniper perks are useless, I won’t touch a sniper rifle unless I’m playing Gun Game.
I also typically play Core games, usually Ground War, which is up to 18 players in a TDM or Domination format.
Yeah, the AUG isn’t a bad weapon either. It seems to lack a little bit of punch, but it’s pretty accurate. There was speculation that, after they nerfed the Famas, that everyone would move to the AUG. That didn’t happen.
Well yeah, but that’s part of the reason why I use other setups I spent my first 3 or 4 prestiges using only the FAMAS, AUG, commando and AK74U and I was getting pretty bored. I decided to switch it up and not use those guns anymore. The most fun setup I use now is dual skorpions with scavenger and marathon.
It seems to me that the AUG has such a high rate of fire that I have to take the extended mag just to be able to last a while.
With any of the fully auto weapons, you shouldn’t be mashing the trigger down, unless it’s mid-range at farthest. You should be pulsing that trigger to keep your reticle on target. You don’t blow through ammo when you use an entire clip on one person, too.
I 've been wondering: when does a flashbang work better than a concussion grenade and vice versa?
I’m honestly not sure, unless there’s a challenge or pro perk that requires one over the other. Both are even covered by Tac Mask Pro. I think concussion grenades are better. I think their radius is a little larger.
I wish there was a perk that let me take two types of tactical grenades. There are rare times I wish I had the Nova gas to flush a sniper out of his position, but normally the concussion grenades prove more often useful.
[ol][li]Concussions are quicker to throw than flashes. It takes about half the time to pull the pin on a concussion. [/li][li]With flashes, the victim can still move at full speed. Whereas with concussions, he’s down to about a quarter speed for both movement and aim.[]Flashed victims (obviously) can’t see, whereas concussed ones can. []Flash grenades have a slightly larger area of effect than concussion grenades. [*]Concussion grenades will only explode when in contact with a surface (assuming enough time has passed), whereas flash grenades will explode at the end of their fuse irrespective of whether they’re on the ground or in the air. This means you can throw concussion grenades farther. [/ol][/li]
I use almost entirely concussions for reason #1 above. If I’m rushing (and I usually am), I don’t want to wait the extra half-second to throw a flash. The main scenario where the flash is better is where you’ve got a camper scoped in on a doorway. If you toss in a concussion first, he’ll probably still get you. If you toss in a flash, he probably won’t. Other than that, I find concussions much more effective than flashes.
Anybody ever kill a guy with the grenade just hitting them? I threw a flashbang into a group of enemies and it bounced off of one guys head, killing him. I’m guessing he was already injured and this was the last hit to finish him off.
Also, railing kills can be fun. I got a guy on Summit with a Semtex and it blew him off the platform and over the cliff. Even if you die right after, it’s satisfying.
Yep. If someone’s in last stand, you can kill them by hitting them anywhere with a grenade. That’s referred to a “direct impact” kill in the game.
Direct impact from any thrown object (except the tomahawk) deals 15 damage.
In normal game modes, you start with 100 hit points. In hardcore, you get 30. (So if you sneak up behind a camper in hardcore, you can kill him with two quick direct impacts – say, with a flash and a frag.) Players in second chance have only 1 health.
Also, flashbangs, concussion grenades, and (I think) Willy Petes all do 1 damage when they detonate, so you can kill someone in second chance either by a direct impact (for 15 damage), or by detonating one of those in range of them (for 1 damage).
EDIT: Just looked it up, and Willy Petes actually do 10 to 20 damage, depending on range.
Yeah, I’ve been killed in second chance with a WP or flashbang. I’ve never had much use for WP. Is there a reason to take it rather than flash or concusion?
Nova Gas is actually the underrated one.
