Replace “psychiatrist” with “Jew” or “gay”, and any number of Christians and Muslims believe things that are quite similar. Or sillier; like acceptance of homosexuality causing hurricanes and such.

Scientology looks crazier to many people because it’s particular brand of craziness isn’t embedded in the culture, but I just don’t see it as any nuttier than any other religion.
