It’s significantly greener this year than usual. We’ve had a very wet spring. Flash flood warnings around various places and such. Don’t expect it to be this green all the time.
Red Rocks is amazing. U2 did an sweet “Bloody Sunday” music video there, maybe you’ve seen it. I don’t know if you like techno music, or how you feel about a young crowd, but a local radio station sometimes holds a big concert there called “Rave On The Rocks.” Buncha DJs, techno bands, etc. Fun stuff. Made me feel real old at 27 though, the last time I went.
Speaking of radio stations. They all suck here. I listen to 106.7/KBPI “rocks the rockies” most often, but they suck plenty often enough to keep me flipping to 93.3/KTCL “Modern Rock”, 97.3/KBCO “We play whatever the aging hipsters want” and 103.5/The Fox “Classic Rock.” If you ever drive into Boulder, check out 95.3, which is KBFR/“Boulder Free Radio,” the local pirate radio station. It’s not usually very good, but when Clear Channel (who owns like 75% of the radio stations in Denver) schedules a block of commercials all the way across the damn dial, you can usually find some music on KBFR. I keep calling them and asking them to play KMFDM and the bastards never do. I should talk to DJ Trinary in person since I sorta know the guy…
Ah, snow! It’s too bad you weren’t here earlier this spring. We had the second biggest storm in Colorado history. About 6 feet of snow fell in less than 24 hours. Not normal, but it was fun never the less. Winters are seemingly milder here than back east. It’s less humid, and so although the snow stays on the ground longer, the cold isn’t as unbearable and things are generally find once the streets get plowed.
Well, have fun in the mile high cow tow-er, city. ;]
