Pursuant to the Football Queensland (and I presume that the other states have similar rules) using “offensive, insulting, abusive or intimidating language and/or gestures” is a red card offence (R6).
Use of “discriminatory, homophobic, racist, religous, ethnic or sexist language and/or gestures” (for a first offence) carries a minmum sentence of 6 fixtures.

And i just heard on the radio that a professional us athlete was suspended for using a homophobic slur. A word that might not be as toxic as some of the slurs the OP mentioned as common in Australia. (Like mewling quim)
