Camera Phone Predator Alert Act benefits Predators not Prey

Yes! I heartily approve of that idea, because by assigned government overseer tells me to.

I assure you that you’re 100% correct. He’s a douchebag of the highest order (which I think would be Squishy Emperor).

In any case this is a stupid idea. In the hands of idiots, cell phones are camera phones are annoying enough as it is. King thinks it’s a reasonable idea to make a hundred thousand phones click so there’s a better chance of catching one voyeur?

Actually, yeah, he would think that way.

If they would just enforce bans, like my gym says “No cell phones in the locker room.” Fine but no one enforces it.

The FCC prohibits building of passive devices to defeat interference with cell phones, so what can you do.

I see guys who are in the locker rooms for HOURS talking on a cell phone. Come on what are they really doing in there?

It’s ridiculous, there’s one guy who spends at least an hour in the shower. Maybe he’s legit, but even so, an HOUR in the shower is just a waste of water.

Every cell phone I have seen, no only can you disable the click but you can change the noise. So you could just make it ring instead of click. Or what’s worse is you could change your ring tone to the sound of a camera clicking, and pretend to answer it so people would think you’re just talking.

Can you change the noise to anything? 'Cause it’s not all that hard to record an empty sound file…

I hate that sound (and don’t get me started on people who like to watch concerts through a cell phone screen), but is there any evidence that having a camera phone is more likely to enrage than dissuade a would-be thief or abductor? Teens are remarkably quick-fingered, so i can see them texting off a pic in a matter of seconds.

As for upskirt photos, wouldn’t it be easier to actually make it illegal to take them?

You can take these kinds of photos in public, so where would this accomplish?

Wha?

And I want to see a video of an actual pervert getting caught that way. And some woman pounding on him, saying, “Might be? MIGHT be?!”

How do they plan to keep people from modifying the firmware? Using an out of country GSM phone with a nonUS law compliant firmware?

Sure it takes some technical skill to hack firmwares but you just have to do it once then you can share it with millions of your friends on the internet.

This law is unenforceable. Lawbreaking predators will just hack their firmwares.

I’ve never used this word, but this makes me want to get all stabby. This is an example of why we should allow summary execution of legislators who demonstrate not just a lack of intelligence, but rather an aggressively stupid and inane interest in the least important issues of our time.

And I’d like to add, the bill does nothing to help deaf, hot, Catholic shoolgirls. It should be mandatory that not just every cell phone camera, but every camera under all conditions, have a very bright flash that cannot be disabled.

And that doesn’t cover deaf and blind, hot Catholic schoolgirls. We should require that a concussion grenade explode every time a picture is taken, so that everyone can be properly warned, by a sensation of their choice, that a picture has been taken.

Mark my words: when taking pictures silently is criminalized, only the criminals will have silent cameras.

Do mobile phone cameras have the same feature as other digital cameras, where you can activate a short delay before the photo is taken? That would make the built-in flash-bang grenades rather more useful. Especially for throwing at ignorant lawmakers.

The buzzword at my company for the last year or so has been “innovation.” You, sir, are a forward thinking, outside the box kinda guy.

I aim to please, blind and disorientate.
