Please. I’d also come up with an on/off toggle (well, a way to switch all binds on the fly by alternating between that and a second bind file where mousebutton0 was set to just +fire).
The whole setup was clunkier than a steam-powered Pong arcade, but it was dynamic, original, well thought out clunkiness, goddammit !
Opportunity and desire are two different things. I have no desire whatsoever to use a weapon that any person can use with their eyes closed. There’s no skill involved, and therefore no fun involved.
Eh, I see more people get killed because of wielding the BFG or rushing for it than I see get killed by it. Between ammo concerns and the fact that someone’s always camping it…
FYI I wasn’t referring to that. I refer to a game where you can customize your class. Where people choose to have (for example) akimbo g18s which can pretty much kill anything that is vaguely sort of slightly almost a bit moderately in the general area known as ‘in front of’ the person shooting.
It annoys the hell out of me when all I seem to get killed by is that weapon. I’m not saying people shouldn’t use it - it’s up to them. I’m just disappointed that so many people do. And I’m disappointed that it’s part of the game. It takes the fun out of it.
I don’t know much about that specific one, but I would expect that in such a game, there would be some other build or playstyle that might not be all that great overall, but which would be optimized for taking out the akimbo g18 build. So you just keep such a character on the back burner, and if it starts getting too bad, you bring out your akimbo-killer and teach them a lesson. And if there isn’t such a build, then I’d say that that reflects poor game design.
True that.
But at the time it made me feel so S-M-R-T to have identified a problem with how I played, then found a way to adjust for it in a realistic way through teaching myself how to code that crap instead of rote training, I tolerated it to the very end.
I still get all gooey about past me, can you tell ? I was so gosh durn cute.
Good advice but in my case I would have to switch to an assault from a sub. Subs aren’t great at long range so I have to be fairly close myself to get kills.
(But sometimes, if I’m lucky, I can get a long range kill with my P90 . It’s quite satisfying to beat a sniper at his own game, without a sniper rifle)
ETA: Before anyone says P90 is overpowered, I will disagree. It’s a hard weapon to use in a majority of circumstances. It kicks like a mule so you have to be good at holding the aim if you have any hope of beating someone with an assault rifle in a medium range shootout.
I think the P90 is relatively underpowered, actually. It’s the UMP that’s “overpowered.”
What is the class you’re using (with perks) or what guns do you like? I’ll set you up a class for anti G18.
I long ago decided that certain guns are good in certain game types. The FAL, M4 and UMP are best in hardcore, the M16, TAR and SPAS are good for core, for instance. The F2000 is best in 3rd person.
I guess I rely too much on the stats (p90 seems to have the best stats of the subs), and the assumption that later unlocked weapons should be better. I guess that’s my mistake.
My most used class is this…
Primary - P90 with rapid fire. (If I switch from a submachine gun the running speed hit seems too much to take, so I end up switching back)
Secondary - stinger.
Perk 1 - Marathon Pro.
Perk 2 - Lightweight Pro.
Perk 3 - Ninja Pro.
Deathstreak - martyrdom.
Equipment - claymore.
Nades - stun grenades.
Killstreaks - care package, turret, chopper gunner.
ETA: If I do use an assault rifle - I like the ACR.
This thread seems to be heading in the direction of a general MW2 discussion instead of a conversation on camping, so I thought I’d start a new one to take care of that:
