That’s the movie I thought of first when I read the OP (much better than Tommy Lee Jones’" Three burials"). Lone Star is a great movie, but honestly I cant say it is that good in teaching the legal principles of immigration in the US, if that’s the kind of movie you’re looking for.
P.S:I support **Mr. Kobayashi **'s suggesion of “machete”. It kinda covers the whole issue in a no-nonsense way.
First one I thought of. In the middle I started to groan at what I thought was going to be predictable but it ended up really surprising me.
I’ll fourth (?) the recommendation for The Visitor.
