Can anyone defend this as true love?

I don’t pass judgment on other people’s relationships. My partner is 20 years younger – and quite a bit hotter – than I am, and I wish I had a nickel for every time someone wondered what he sees in me, along the lines of “What’s he doing with him?” They usually don’t actually come out and say this, but it’s obvious when it happens. And there are people who openly flirt with him (or actually come on to him) when we’re together.

Regarding Heffner and his fiance . . . whatever they see in each other is their business.

It ain’t love. She married him for his money and fame. She is just waiting for him to keel over.

What makes you think she is going to inherit? Hef has four children, and I highly doubt the prenup entitles her to a significant portion of his estate.

I am actually less skeptical in this situation: Hef has actually given up having 3+ girlfriends at a time for her. That implies something more than lust.

Whether it would qualify as true love depends on your definition of the same.

He doesn’t need to marry anybody to get laid. And I doubt shes’ going to get his millions or billions or whatever it is. Maybe after decades of as much tail as he could handle, he finally found somebody he could cuddle with during those long winter nights and discuss Chaucer. Maybe their relationship is a beacon of hope in a cold and indifferent world.

He’s 84 years old.

Anyone want to do a show of hands on who thinks Hef’s given up keeping a stable of younger girlfriends because he’s in ¨’•~-.¸¸,.-~TRUE LOVE¨’•~-.¸¸,.-~’ vs. those who think it’s because he’s 84 years old?

(85 in April.)

If that’s the case, you kind of have to wonder what he was doing from about 70 onward.

I thought you said a “bacon of hope”. I was wondering what that was.

As for these two, I agree with others - it may be business, it may be friendship, it may be love. Whatever it is I hope they eke out some measure of happiness. It’s pretty hard to find in these parts.

All of a sudden I am seriously considering a name change to Bacon Of Hope. Or maybe Light.

Well shouldn’t you… oh, I see, all the jokes about the user name/OP combo have been made.

Okay then. As **even sven **said, this is all about publicity. The empire is not doing well, and this is an attempt to keep Playboy in headlines that don’t continue ‘is losing money…’ Maybe he’s ill and would like to settle down (again) and die in the arms of his loving wife, but I doubt making it legal makes a difference to him.
