I guess I don’t think those are significant enough memes to be included in the list of [Beginner’s Guide to Glossary of Terms on the SDMB](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=320298) … However, I’d be glad to add them if y’all want. Someone want to take a crack at a reasonable definition? ---

Well, I could have sworn I saw something that explained the Opal thing, at least. The rest, I stumbled upon eventually. Also, I stumbled on Gaudere’s law before I got here, albeit possibly on Snopes, Fark, or Wikipedia, all of which may have a fairly large Doper presence. Muphry’s law is a stupid name. ---

(unless there was another one I didn’t know about.) And I know the Opal meme. I just could have sworn I read it in some kind of FAQ. But now I’m not so sure. I think there just happened to be a thread about how some people thought it was getting old. ---
