Can anyone recommed a free image hosting service that allows FTP upload? (or is there no such animal?). It also needs to be free of adult popups and banners.

Most hosting service _do_ use FTP, although it’s embedded in your browser. I don’t know of any that allow direct FTP upload via your own FTP client, if that’s what you mean. Can you clarify a bit, and explain why you need to use FTP?

I’m working on a community radio project at the end of the month and we’ll be setting up a webcam in the studio; we don’t have the bandwidth to serve it directly, so I have a bit of software that uploads an image every X seconds by FTP. The hists that offer FTP upload and free web hosting will only do it in conjunction with a domain reguistration, or they have multiple popups, or they won’t allow the image to be linked externally.

In the end, I splashed out a few quid for some web space on my personal domain and I’ll use that; I’ll just embed my page inside a frame on one of the radio station pages.

I think that’s what you’d have to do anyway. I haven’t read the TOS of all the major free image hosting services I know of, but I’d wager they place some transfer limits that are commensurate with the price you’re paying to use their servers.

Heh. No such thing as a free lunch; there ‘free’ were hosts that offered unmetered bandwidth, but again, there were other limitations; I don’t suppose it is all that surprising that nobody wants to let me intensively use even a tiny piece of their bandwidth and server, for nothing at all in return.
