It’s not so much a religious debate, more a sort of après-vie.
Yawn. So you grew up in the Eastern Bloc. Which was officially atheist. And this tells you how all atheists think…how?
You’re like a guy who grew up in Iran telling us you know how Shinto works, because you lived under a theist regime and studied theism institutionally. Yeah, except you lived under a Shia Muslim regime and studied Shia Islam. Not Shinto, or Buddhism, or any of the other thousands of kids of theistic beliefs that people around the world and throughout history have.
You don’t know shit about how atheism, other than the fact that the assholes who used to run your country happened to not believe in God.
So does weed.
So does self-sufficiency.
Grow your own weed and be a god!
True :). But then, if you gotta make up a god for it all to make sense/be bearable you’re by definition *not *self-sufficient, are you ?
So does self-sufficiency.
- What atheist regime did you live under?
- Where did you study atheism?
- In what way did your particular religious belief suffer?
- Do you ever plan on answering any of these questions that come directly from your own statements in this thread?
I’m late to this thread but how about:
“If you kill me, my dog will miss me.”
Oh, I think it can be…but I reject the idea that it results in 42.
But then, I’m a Six-by-nineist, and reject your simplistic understanding. That might mean that I get to kill you Six-by-sevenists. Sorry.
If you ever actually read the books, you might remember that it was six times eight. It comes up in the last chapter on the Golgafrinchans on earth – Arthur pulls that out of a bag, but since the program had not completed when he left, the answer is mathematically incorrect. Seems to me this was right after the chapter where Zaphod and Zarniwoop discovered god.

People make more shallow assumptions about my person than any Christian fundie would in a similar situation. I think self-sufficiency is an understatement.
You seem to be drifting off the subject, UY Scuti.

Six times nine.

Six times nine, actually – and that’s just the point where they run out of Scrabble tiles; if he’d had more tiles, IMHO he would’ve finished the sentence accurately.

Easily solved: Answer the questions that come naturally from your own statements.
I find it difficult to believe that any institution offers a course of study concentrating on “I lack a belief in gods”. Can you expound on which institution offers this course and how many class hours are devoted to that quite simple concept?
There’s more to it, Horatio… Take a quick peek here and quench your thirst. (N.B. - The page has a scroll down function.)

Everyone is a Sherlock these days.

We’re way off topic right now. If I’m interested in it in the future, I will initiate a thread on my own person and beliefs.

If you are claiming that your extensive studying consisted of skimming over a Wiki entry?? If not, would you mind actually answering the damn question instead of jerking us around?

What you think you know about atheism and where you supposedly acquired this “knowledge” is the farthest thing from off-topic if you, the OP, are the one that brings up both in this thread.
You seem to be drifting off the subject, UY Scuti.
The subject has been drifted off for a long time. The thread teems with off topic remarks.

You are no Moriarty. Do you plan on making any more unsubstantiated claims? The list is getting rather long now as it is.
