So if John Hughes was to make a movie about Kavanaugh’s Georgetown Prep days, try as I may, I’m struggling to see him in any other role except your classic one-dimensional jock villain. And not even a handsome jock villain with teeth actually befitting his socioeconomic situation. In every scene, he’d be cliqued up with all his football buddies in letterman jackets, throwing back beers and gaffawing at mean-spirited inside jokes. Like the Renate thing. If 80’s movies tell us anything, they probably came up with a song to go along with it too.
The other way to play him would be the hanger on, wannabe, of the “in” jocks, trying to earn their respect by taking their “dares”. A lesser and more pathetic character than the true villain of the film.
Popped up collar doesn’t really go with the letterman jacket, though. Can both co-exist in the same outfit? I only see the Kav wearing the latter. Maybe I’m overthinking things.
So I assume we will be hearing about Kavanaugh and Judge suing Avenatti for defamation of character in the next couple days. Right? Of course, that would involve lawyers and depositions. But if there’s nothing to find, they should get right on that.
Can we just say, how are the predictions that further investigations of Kavanaugh would be pointless because nothing new would be discovered, how are those predictions looking?
If these allegations are all invented from whole cloth, then why did the accusations only arise to the second nominee? Gorsuch literally went to the same fucking high school as Kavanaugh and not a single allegation like this about him. Probably because, while an illegitimate justice, he wasn’t rapey.
This clearly gives the red state Dems enough to vote against. I don’t see any D votes to confirm unless Ford comes off as completely non-credible. You think otherwise?
IF all D’s vote no that means just one R needs to go no. Collins, Murkowski, Flake? Hell Deb Fischer? Her seat is safe even if the base gets pissed. She could afford to vote against sexual assault and not have to deal with any blowback from the base for six years. Okay probably not but of the other three will all stay in line when the general public is clearly believing her more than him?
Okay, interesting. One would expect that most R’s would be at least posting something of some support of Kavanaugh and the unfairness of the Ds in their twitter feeds. Nothing about it in Deb Fischer’s at all. To me that is a dog that has not barked. A curious thing.
I would think Collins would be the no vote on the R side, if there is going to be one. She’s expressed interest in hearing out the 2nd accuser, suggesting she is at least trying to act like her mind isn’t made up already.
