According to reporter Manu Raju, Lisa Murkowski is open to an FBI investigation:
And IIRC, Collins has said the committee needs to hear from the 2nd accuser. That would seem to cast doubt on an imminent vote after the Thursday hearing.

Plus, his Yale roommate said he’d often get incoherently drunk.
This apologtic email he sent after a fishing trip also suggests he has a habit of saying “don’t recall” when he gets angry drunk.
I suspected the guy was going to lie or obfuscate about his drinking history, but I didn’t think he would volunteer these lies outside of the hearing. Does even his supporters believe he never got blacked out drunk in high school?
To introduce some levity and heartburn: see Trump’s latest attempt to weigh in on this via Twitter. It was soon deleted but a redditor was able to screenshot it beforehand.
Time and time again when Kavanaugh had a choice between giving the “right” answer to grease the wheels of confirmation or the truth, he chose to lie.
His first official statement as the nominee was “No president has ever consulted more widely, or talked with more people from more backgrounds, to seek input about a Supreme Court nomination.”
He lied right out of the gate. He lied in his confirmation hearing. He lied in previous confirmation hearings. He lied on Fox news last night. He is almost certainly going to lie on Thursday. It’s what he does.
Why does anyone still support him?
It’s becoming more and more evident that the GOP senators are desperately trying to find some way to get rid of this hot potato without offending either their hard-core deplorable base or their traditional Main Street voters. News Flash: you won’t find it because it doesn’t exist.
At this point, their best shot at damage control is to vote down the nomination and tell the hard-corers “Suck it up, buttercup; you’re gonna come out and vote for me anyway because you don’t want the Democrats to get the Senate”. It probably won’t work, but every other option I can think of definitely won’t work.
That email doesn’t say anything about being drunk (or fishing). The previous email alludes to a sailboat. Is there a good reason to think they did any fishing on that trip?
There’s good reason to think he got belligerently, blackout, drunk while gambling, but nothing about fishing. Well spotted.
I suppose if your wild imagination counts as “good reason”, then sure.
I like the reminder about confidentiality, “including to spouses”
I believe you’re the kind of guy who doesn’t drink and doesn’t spend a lot of time around people who do…
Apologizing for things you don’t recall is the hallmark of the blackout drunk. This email screams that to people who do and have partied hard.
I see others are explaining the subtext in this email so I will not do so.
But I’ve gotta ask: do you believe Kavanaugh when he says he never got blackout drunk? Does this pass the smell test to you given his reputation and background?
on twitter :
Perhaps Brett Kavanaugh was a virgin for many years after high school. But he claimed otherwise in a conversation with me during our freshman year in Lawrance Hall at Yale, in the living room of my suite.
:smack:
Dang, those false acquisitions will bite you in the ass every time!
This exchange? Yes, I believe him.
Appreciate the link. But for me, only a girl (or guy) who slept with Kavanaugh can, and should, refute his claim. Most guys boasts about sex, especially virgins.
He clearly was the first 18 year old in human history to claim to be more sexually experienced then he was.
Why do you believe him?
Or that he was a virgin until well after college? The dude lived his life like he was constantly auditioning for the next Porky’s movie.
So, he lied then or he lied now.
Not that it matters, because being a virgin in high school doesn’t refute the allegations.
And, he lied to Congress about the Bush-era memos. That keep getting overlooked for some reason.
Wow. I had assumed you knew he was lying, but just didn’t care. Like you do with Trump.
Kavaugh picks a result we wants and then says things consistent with that outcome without regard for the truth. He’s done it all his life and he’s doing it now. He did it last night, and he did it in the exchange you linked to.
There is a ton of evidence that Kavanaugh drank until he blacked out on numerous occasions. This evidence has been provided by a number of people including Kavanaugh himself.
