Getting out of Afghanistan, including the “how” of it, is the high point of Biden’s presidency so far. About as politically courageous a decision as any politician has made in decades - this is a decision the last two presidents wanted to make but were too politically afraid to do. And it was the right decision, morally speaking - we’d been wasting money and lives for decades while gaining absolutely nothing. All the bullshit criticism of the “how” - every last bit of it - amounts to “well we really should have stayed, only a bit longer, I swear we’ll get out shortly, just needed to keep the airbase, stick around for a bit, just a bit longer…”; in other words, endless bullshit that really just means “don’t leave Afghanistan”. That he did this knowing it would have a big political cost just makes it an even better decision. There could be no getting out of Afghanistan without chaos and death. Thank God (and Biden) we’re finally out of that miserable, pointless war. ---
