In case you didn’t notice, I was addressing drastic_quench’s question and not the OP’s.
I don’t go to a lot of formal events but what do people do about the cold factor? If you wear no hose, how do you deal with the temperature?
I get around that problem in every day life with boots and/or leggings…
It must be an American thing, hose has never been obligitory in a formal function unless its been organised by the Beverly Hill Billies.
Well, I have a full-length coat* that I wore to get back and forth to the car. Once we were inside the hotel it was warm so there was no problem.
*seriously, the thing almost touches the floor if I’m not wearing heels!
I’d venture to say that standard “nude” pantyhose is no longer necessary for any level of fashion formality. I have even noticed that the hosiery sections of most stores are much, much smaller than they used to be… or rather, the space is taken up with tights and various patterned hosiery, with only a small section for traditional pantyhose.
The only women I know who even own pantyhose any more are over 55, or act as though they are. It’s very much an old-fashioned, old-lady thing in this part of the Deep South.
Ah, good point. I mostly take the subway to get places so car isn’t really an option for me. Unless I’m taking a cab…
oh, for god’s sakes, girls.
show a little class.
put on the pantyhose.
'nuff said.
Hose provide very little in the way of warmth. Unless it’s summer, of course, then their insulating qualities become apparent. I guess you do feel warmer if you wear pantyhose under pants, but that wouldn’t be much of a factor in ladies’ formalwear.
Legit question: how old are you?
