I wonder about packages sent to a previous tenant. A couple of weeks after moving into a new apartment, we received a box from a shave club, but we didn’t know anything about the previous tenant. I doubt the management company would have been willing to trace down a forwarding address for such a small thing. It wasn’t first class mail, so I believe the PO wouldn’t forward it. We only ever got one box, so I guess the guy got his address straightened out. After having it rattle around for a while, Mr. CelticKnot opened it up and used it. He was not impressed enough to subscribe.
I’ve received packages at my address intended for someone else (that was actually misaddressed, not misdelivered) a handful of times. Every time I have called the company and they say to just keep it and thanks for letting them know. I expect that if they had accidentally sent me something worth thousands of dollars they might have been more motivated to do something, but companies that ship stuff have some amount of delivery loss built into their business model, and it’s often easier to just write it off than to try to have someone coordinate a return process for weird corner cases.
