A little background: we currently don’t have cable or a satellite receiver. I just finished building a wet bar and home theater in the basement, and am mainly interested in watching just movies and sports.

Yesterday I tried streaming a high-definition (1080p) movie to my TV using Netflix, and it seemed to work O.K. Is there a way to do the same with live sports, such as NFL games? I understand I can do this through Dish and DirecTV, but I would rather receive it over the Internet if possible. I did some searching, and only found some sites that allow you to watch low-resolution games on your computer monitor.

I am perfectly willing to pay for the service, BTW. I certainly would not expect to receive HD sports programming for free.

One possible tool is a[Slingbox](http://www.slingmedia.com/go/prohd) and SlingCatcher. The problem is they no longer sell the [SlingCather](http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sling-Media-SlingCatcher-Multimedia-Receiver/dp/B001GNCCFG/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top) in the US.
