What’s the point of this immature thread? If you don’t want to start a pit thread, use the ignore feature if you want, but starting this thread is stupid. ---

I’m pretty sure people have asked about all sorts of words, like cunt, dick, fuck, jerk, & troll. And it was in the correct spot for asking questions “about this message board”. I wasn’t angry about anything remember, I was only annoyed. I’m imagining starting a thread in the pit with “can I call someone annoying?”. You get eaten alive around here for doing something like that. Hell, some of them would pop a vein from their extreme rage for me asking a question in the pit. There would be cries of “THIS BELONGS IN ABOUT THIS MESSAGE BOARD!!!111111” ---

**Gimpster** (can I call you that?), you just need to get creative. The rule is about calling others names, so you need to make it about you. For example: “Poster X, when reading posts that you have authored, I have an internal negative response. This is clearly my responsibility, but I am asking for your help in this matter, would you please consider altering your style to accommodate me? Thanks in advance for your consideration” ---

Pitting someone for being annoying is extremely weak sauce, and merely invites others to attack you. Plus the prevailing attitude in the Pit between two people who disagree seems to be who can insult the other one the most. The Pit requires either extreme anger or hyperbolic vitriol, something a lot of posters don’t have. It sucks, but middle-of-the road grievances pretty much can’t be resolved until they become purely hostile. (Well, I’d add that you can technically get away with hostility outside the Pit if you know what you are doing, but that’s the part of the Dope I really don’t want to support. It’s just too easy to get carried away. Plus, figuring out where that line is is an exercise in frustration, as it moves constantly.) ---

Thanks in advance for your consideration” And yet I’ve never seen such a thread. The closest seems to be **even sven** ’s threads in the Pit, which had to use enough hostility to get her target mad. To do it, you pretty much have to create a thread talking about how the behavior is annoying without naming the poster. And even then people will tell you to take it to the Pit if they figure out who you are talking about. ---
