Just one datum, FWIW. When a good friend of mine who was otherwise healthy had a heart attack I asked him about it. He was a heavy user of MJ. He pointed out to me that he smoked MJ-laced cigarettes and, while he was not really hooked on them (so he claimed), he ended up smoking a lot of tobacco. He died about 15 years later. A poster boy if you are against legalization (which I am not; it seems clear that has been a bad mistake).
Damn, I used to work hard at answering GQ questions.
Too hard.
Nowadays, you can all do as you damn well please, nobody listens to the science anyway, everybody just hand-waves away what they don’t want to hear. And we all die eventually.

[sub]I’ll still try to give my patients good advice though[/sub]
This is two points. your friend smoked pot and cigarettes. What point are you making?
Do any of the studies on marijuana separate the effects of smoking organic material from ingesting the active ingredients in marijuana?
I suspect that the negative heart problems are more the result of the former rather than the latter. So you’d likely also have these problems if you smoked bananas or random leaves. And wouldn’t have them if you got your THC via edibles.
Yes it can … marijuana use can cause you to get the munchies which can cause you to be overweight, which can cause you to be a couch potato, lazy, zonked out, passed out, a TV junkie living on junk food.
I smoked Marijuana 1978 to 1984 and quit for 17 years and then gave up on life being my friend and started again back in 2003. I quit again in 2012 till 2015 and again gave up on a normal life. I just wanted to chill out, watch movies, watch football and go to the store for more food, but then I had a heart attack at 73 …
Wake up call … I stopped smoking pot last March and lost 31 lbs, my blood pressure went back to normal and I feel better now that I have been getting the right treatment and I love life again.
Stop smoking pot after (50) fifty and you will feel a lot better … I fear for the states that have legal recreational pot like California with men and women over 21 that have never really got into the habit of smoking pot for recreational purposes. Great mood changer, great for sex, great for entertainment, great for the enjoyment of comfort food, great for playing games on your PlayStation or Xbox, great for Dr pepper lovers, but for your health or for driving forget it your just asking for trouble.
Society will be well advised to avoid marijuana for the younger generation due to brain development is not finished yet or for the older generation that just wants to drop out.
You’ll drop out alright or drop dead … this is an honest unpaid for warning. I’ll never smoke it or eat it again.
