I had a cousin who weighed somewhere around 600, and she was less than 5 feet tall. When she was a teenager her mother put her in the hospital for supervised weight loss. But her friends smuggled in food for her. When she was married, her mentally-challenged husband (who was tall and thin) fed her constantly, and drove her to all-you-can-eat buffets . . . until they were told not to come back. For the last few years of her life, she could no longer walk, and got around on a scooter. Then, in her fifties, her body couldn’t continue to sustain itself, and she died.
