> That being said, it’s no better / worse than other ludicrous concepts of similar movies. Heck I love watching Equilibrium and it’s gun kata even though it makes just as little sense conceptually.

I disagree. To me, Snowpiercer is significantly worse. The perpetual motion machine is the most believable part of it. The idea of a train is just ridiculously stupid. The epitome of comic book logic.

I’m having trouble coming up with any premise that would be stupider. Best I can do is think of Waterworld, but instead of boats, everybody walks around on really, _really_ tall stilts that reach to the bottom of the ocean. No floating structures of any kind; you eat, sleep, live your entire life perched on stilts. Not even a seat; you’re in standard upright stilt position. That’s the level of dumb in Snowpiercer’s premise.

That said, I enjoyed the movie and all three seasons that I’ve seen. The entire time my brain is screaming at me about how ridiculously stupid it is, but that doesn’t prevent me from enjoying it.

I recall stumbling upon this one afternoon. I happened to tune in at the scene where they stick the dude’s arm out the window then smash his frozen limb 😱 I don’t know why - I watch a lot of dark stuff - but that traumatized me so much the rest of the movie didn’t really phase me in terms of stupidity or whatever. I even came here and started a thread asking if that would actually work (it would not).

> Or everyone on Earth gets equalized to barbaric savagery? Postapoc/dystopian movies tend to not answer that.

The _ **Escape From New York/ L.A.** _ movies took that route. Barbarian anti-hero nihilistically decides that the world would be a better place with 100% barbaric savagery instead of merely 90%. _ **Zardoz** _ too for that matter.

Heh, now I’ve just thought of a prequel for the _ **Mad Max** _ movies. It turns out that Australia was just hanging on after the nuclear war in the northern hemisphere, they might have made it… but The Humungous tore down the one chance to keep civilization going.
