# Can somebody explain this Washington Commanders stereotype?

There’s a YouTube comedian Tom Grossi who posts videos about the NFL season. He dresses up as a fan of the various teams. In most cases, he just wears a team jersey but for some of them he adds some extra props, like having the Indianapolis Colts fan wear an Indiana Jones hat or having the Chicago Bears fan dress up like the Pope.
And when he plays the Washington Commanders fan, he wears sunglasses and a flower wreath on his head. And he speaks with a mellow hippyish voice.
I don’t understand what connection this has with the Washington Commanders.

The only explanation I can think of is that Clinton Portis, former Washington running back, was well known to wear outlandish clown-ish outfits during postgame interviews or other interviews. Often wigs in yellow hair or other hair and big sunglasses. You can Google “Clinton Portis outfits.” This was way back in the day, when Washington’s team was still called the R-word.
In addition, Washington fans were known to dress up as hogs with wigs, sunglasses and fake snouts.

Yes, its origin is from the team name controversy. The character is called “Wildflower” and I guess is supposed to mimic the identity crisis of the team and how it became a happy, hippy “do no harm” team with the new name.

I have nothing to add to the OP but I am genuinely amazed at what qualifies for a wiki nowadays. Grossi Cinematic Universe wiki?! I am assuming it’s somewhat tongue in cheek. But still WTF!?!

Just a reminder that “wiki” is a software. Anyone can run wiki software on a web server. There are countless wikis all over the internet, of varying qualities. I’ve seen “fan fiction” wikis that (seriously) look like some junior high schooler wanted to share some stuff he made up during his lunch break. And that’s the entire site, not just one page. It’s laughably easy for anyone to do it.
