I’m techno-dumb but occasionally want to share some pictures. I see a place for links and stuff, but how do I just post a pic? Thnx ---

Pics are not allowed here, except possibly in the Marketplace (I dunno, never read that forum). You can post a link to pics hosted elsewhere. ---

The only forums that permit posting pictures are the [Marketplace](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?f=35)forum and the [Boo](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?f=37)! forum. No pictures are allowed anywhere else. ---

You can’t post photos directley here. The way this is handled is to upload your photo(s) to a photo sharing web site, and then to link to that photo here on the Straight Dope. The one I use is Imageshack - doesn’t cost anything and is pretty simple. They are found here. [http://imageshack.us/](http://imageshack.us/) Sign in to the site, and the rest is straightforward. Whenever you want to share a photo, just upload it, and then link (in your Straight Dope message) to the photo. As an example, the link looks like this. [http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/25/andyb.jpg/](http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/25/andyb.jpg/) You have just met my cat Andy. Good luck. ---
