I’m sure it is all part of God’s plan…
I know that some people here will be up in arms at me for having the audacity to presume that I know the way to heaven, but since the OP’er asked the question to a Christian audience, or at least asked for a Christian Reference, I do know what the Bible (which is the ONLY guide to Christianity that I know about) says about Going to Heaven, or Salvation.
Salvation, is not dependent on saying exactly the right thing, or doing exactly the right ritual using the exact words from the specified verse in the precise chapter of whatever Book of the New Testament.
Salvation comes from Believing in the Living Jesus Christ, Trusting in Him, clinging to Him and developing for the rest of your life, a relationship WITH Him. No matter how long, or short the rest of your life may be. The ONLY way to do that, is to learn about Him through the Bible, which you must believe is Gods Word. It HAS to be learned from the Bible, because again, the Bible is the only guide we have, it is the SOURCE of Christianity. If you claim to be a Christian, but don’t believe the Bible, whatever it is you’re believing is NOT Christianity because the Bible is the Birthplace and Entirety of Christianity. The word Christian, would not exist if the Bible did not exist.
Salvation is a process. You can only believe and practice what you have read, or have been taught about Jesus Christ from the Bible, so far. And what you have, so far, is good enough as long as it is from God’s own word. Even when we fail to do everything right, knowingly or unknowingly, we have Salvation as long as we are Trusting in Him and we continue to develop that relationship. Even the Apostle Paul didn’t do everything right. He said, “For the good that I would (or, want to) do, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do”. but later, on the same subject, he says, “There is now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”. (Romans Ch.7 and 8) Walking after the Spirit, is the process of developing the relationship with Christ, to put it simply.
I said all that to say this. All scenarios are not clear cut in the Bible. An example of a Christian committing suicide is not to be found anywhere. The closest we could get to that topic is probably Judas Iscariot committing suicide after betraying Jesus, and Jesus said that Judas had “lifted up his heel” against Him, so he was obviously not cultivating a relationship with Jesus. Oh boy, this is going to go on forever if I don’t make a point here.
No specific thing, except for outright Rejecting Jesus, will make or break your Salvation. (OK, Who’s gonna bring up “Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit”) We have forgiveness, we have hope and we have Salvation, as long as we are continually trusting in and walking with Christ.
