Because, it’s compositionally slightly distracting. Chick’s got a fencepost sticking out of her head. Sans fencepost, it’s a cleaner and stronger composition.

And it’s hardly a new concept. I understand that the artists restoring Picasso’s _Les Demoiselles d’Avignon_ decided as long as they were at it, they’d go ahead and make the women’s features proportional.
