No?
Wouldn’t you agree, however, that there’s value in thinking outside the box and defying expectations?
But is it really thinking outside the box when most people, including the originator of this thread, expected people to do this?
Is it a thinking exercise at all? Wasn’t the OP just asking about the Socratic method?
Aren’t we still talking at each other than to each other?
And for that matter, wasn’t the point of the Socratic method to get the student to reason out the answer to the question, rather than the teacher answering it?
Have we resolved this yet? Is there any reason for me to contribute? Should I actually bother reading the whole thread to find out?
Why shouldn’t you contribute?
What are your thoughts?
Was the OP serious or was this all a woosh?
Does it make a difference?
What would make you think that?
I have to know, does having an open mind means everything falls out?
Isn’t it obvious?
Obvious to whom? And does the obviousness of it actually matter?
To give a serious response:
Are you certain that the latter is the result of the former, and not the other way around?
So then you are saying that because we don’t have dialogue we become entrenched in our own viewpoints?
Isn’t this discussion, in fact, pointless? Aren’t words just pale reflections of the true Platonic ideal meaning there is no real exchange of information? And doesn’t that just lead to frustration at our human limitattions? Why do we bother?
Why did you come in here mumbling when you know I can’t understand you?!?!?

Well if a person starts yelling at you, are you going to respond to him in a reasonable manner 99% of the time? So the question becomes, why do people begin to yell?
WHAT’S IT TO YOU?!?!?!?!?!? YOU WANNA PIECE O ME?!?!?!? HUH?!?!?
Do you go well with catsup?
