Braces was slightly more common during my years in Boston and braces more often seen with business suit wear than I see with formal wear here in the upper Midwest but then braces look sharp with bow ties, so that is not surprising. ---

Duluth Trading. Side clip or regular, both available with plastic clips that won’t tear up your pants or set off a metal detector. Accept nothing less. ---

They are stitched into an angle at the ‘X’. But it’s higher up than the other suspenders I’ve owned, and seems to allow more lateral adjustment at my waist in the rear. I almost forgot, they’re advertised as X-Ray proof, but they’re not “whatever TSA uses” proof. So every time I’ve worn them thru the TSA checkpoints I get to meet the nice men with funny beeping wands, and occasionally even take of my shirt for them to examine.
