Can we now, finally, chew the lying stripper a new one?

You misunderstand the poster you claim to support fully. He is saying that whoever posted in the thread should be ashamed. Go ahead. Ask him.

“Jumping on the bandwagon” != “posting in the thread.”

Try reading for comprehension, dickhole.

Why don’t you? I think you’re deliberately missing his point just so you can play a lameass gotcha game.

face, my apologies.

Cervaise, take your contrived righteous indignation and shove it up your ass. if you don’t like what folks post about in the Pit, stay the fuck out. Or start your own message board, where you can make everyone play nice and lick your ass all day. In case you missed it, the thread you find so inconsequential lasted over a year, and involved a topic that held national interest. You don’t like it? Fuck away off.

I only wonder what would have happened to those guys had they not had the collective resources (i.e. $5million bucks) to get themselves out of this jam. Ooh! I know! They’d be in the joint. Growing up, any 10 of my friends and I couldn’t raise $500k much less $5M if we had been similarly accused.

And you wanna talk about someone who won’t just give in and admit they’re wrong, ask the lying whore. That’s what she IS Brickbacon. Whether or not she qualifies as a cum dumpster I couldn’t say, but I could look her in the face and call her that, just as easily as I can type it here. She lied, and if we accept the fruit of the poisonous tree theory, she, the accuser is the FIRST responsible party.

And what, pray, would you have Weirddave DO about the abject failures of the legal system? Hmm? Put on his yellow tights and velvet cape and fly around righting wrongs? All you can DO is vent on it.

Those kids though, will be fine. What happened was an absolute miscarriage of justice, just as many things are that we can do absolutely nothing about.

Howdy, Huerta. While we’ve been vehemently on opposite sides of some issues in the past, I’ve very much liked the points you’ve made in this thread.

To answer your question, WRAL-TV, the local CBS affiliate and one of the better local news operations I’ve seen anywhere, carried quite a lot of coverage of today’s events, including more of Atty. Gen. Cooper’s statement and comments (I think but am unsure what I quote was included in a press conference; what I saw was rebroadcast purely as an excerpt.

Cooper indicated that she may believe, or have convinced herself of the truth of, the lies she’s been telling – not outright saying she’s batshit insane, but implying it. Her family is keeping her hidden away somewhere.

I got the impression from the way he worded his comments that he wasn’t convinced he could get a conviction against an insanity and/or coercion (by Nifong) defense, and that she was not what he wanted to go after.

His office will make no decision on what to do with regards to prosecuting Nifong until after the State Bar Association completes its investigation on the ethics hearing that Nifong is facing now. This kind of puts Nifong in exactly the sort of bind he probably deserves after all this: stonewall the Bar Association, and he’s likely to get his right to practice law lifted; cooperate with them, and he provides Cooper the evidence needed to prosecute him. Poetic justice!

I think it carries much more impact that a “not guilty” verdict. The mere action of taking the matter to trial says that there are issues to be decided - that there is some credible evidence that a crime occured. On the other hand, completely dropping the charges shows there was no credible evidence, that LWCM is indeed that, and that the DA was a vote-mongering rogue who will probably be selling every thing he owns shortly to pay a hefty judgment.

Wonder if Jesse Jackson would be willing to pay for LWCM’s mental health treatment instead of college?

She has a history of mental illness. If, as Cooper said, she wanted to proceed with the prosecution, in the light of everything we know today, she may be mentally unstable. I doubt that a prosecution would serve any purpose.

Uh, don’t you need some sort of corroboration in the form of phsyical evidence or at least some other witnesses?

What’s “undo” scrutiny? Doen’t one of those pesky Amendments mention something about an individual having the right to confront his accuser? If I’m accused of a crime, any crime, I want my lawyer to rip those accusations to shreds and then stomp on the pieces.

Duke’s Prez.,checks in:

http://www.dukenews.duke.edu/2007/04/rhb_agdecision.html?SPSID=25937&SPID=2027&DB_OEM_ID=4200

No mention of his own slurs, nor that a substantial part of the “deep unfairness” inflicted on the players was perpetrated and/or encouraged by dumbass profs. under his nominal supervision, against whom he’s taken no action and whose conduct and statements he has never disowned.

"Since we haven’t gone through a normal legal process, we don’t know what really happened. The fact the charges were dropped doesn’t mean nothing happened. It just means information wasn’t collected appropriately enough to go forward.” – Duke biology professor Sheryl Broverman

(quote found on Liestoppers)
What a bitch. Did you listen to the state DA? The kids were innocent. LWCM has issues.

And if Crystal had never made the charges at all, that would have been even more damning because there wouldn’t have been any investigation at all of whether a rape took place!!! Where’s the justice?

This from the science faculty, too. WTF?

This is why I don’t keep up with the news that much.

You know, I’m going to be looking for you if I come home tomorrow to see Dave wearing tights and a cape. Just so you know.

And that was a daft thing to do, I find it an odd way for *intellectuals * to make a point. And it’s a fine “call for cessation of injustice” on general principles, to essentially cry out for a crucifixion of specific persons. They did not call just for generic rejections against “white privilege”, they called for reprisals against the specific young men.

And about “picking the wrong poster girl”, how come they feel the need to pick one at all? You know what it sounds like? Like they had no compunction about using Crystal’s situation to advance their cause. “Never mind Crystal the person, the human, the individual with a life, no, we’ll portteay only the reflection of the archetype of The Black, The Female, The Poor.” Same with their choice of “villain” to cast – 3 to 44 young men, persons, human beings with lives, were not to be judged as individuals but as “whitey, privileged and unaccountable”.

Anyway if you’re going to look for a proxy case, look for a solid, convincing proxy case, don’t jump on the first one that shows up. Or better yet, forget about proxy cases and proactively work to demand that the institutions of the university and the city get their shit together on “racial justice” issues. Either they were being entirely ineffective at that, or not even trying, if they were reduced to hoping that some atrocity would wake up the community.

Tomorrow is my 40th birthday honey. I’ll dress anyway I like.

Not necessarily true, especially in a college setting, as shown by the following link link:

Even in the general population, figures of false accusations (in many cases resulting in a wrongful conviction) are astonishingly high: link

I wonder what really happened at that party?

[li]Duke guys order stripper from Bunnyhole Escort Service[/li][li]Crystal and her friend appear[/li][li]Duke guys are upset at seeing an unattractive black woman*[/li][li]They say some very inappropriate things, possibly calling them niggers[/li][li]They leave[/li][li]The strippers are convinced to come back and dance[/li][li]Argument over money; they leave for good[/li][li]Other stripper calls 911 to say she was called a nigger[/li][li]911 isn’t as responsive as they’d hoped[/li][li]Crystal, still upset, figured “rape” will get their attention[/li][/ul]

  • This is probably the Duke boys’ biggest mistake. Crude and racist, perhaps… but still not worth what the guys went through.

Oh dear. Weirddave is going to be hitting the board about 1 am - all lit up, post-coital, and mid-life-crisised. I, for one, will plan on playing Civ IV tomorrow night.

Are you advocating using crime statistics as datapoints in determining an accuser’s credibility?

She also has a history of making bogus gang rape accusations.
