I’d like a barfing smiley. I think jjimm’s is good, and in keeping with our existing style. I don’t care about Happy Orthodox Jewish Man. The Putz smiley is worse than useless – despite being in the collection of ornaments we can use, it is regarded as a direct insult and cannot be used in certain fora. It’s a waste of space. The blowjob smiley is bad, as is the Stick Out Tongue one – both can stay, if they are replaced with better art. My two cents. Times a few, I guess. 😃 ---

I think it’s pretty universally agreed that the embarassed smiley needs new art. I’ve always been partial to a [sweatdrop](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/Jayn_Newell/sweatdrop.gif) emote myself, but I also watch way too much anime. ---

If we open it to a vote, I agree that I see no point in ;j , do agree that :o is the international symbol of the blowjob. I would vote for keeping :wally since, even though I haven’t used it (that I recall) I do like to have the option. And yes, the demand for the vomit/disgusted smiley does seem to necessitate the existence of it. Just don’t touch :dubious:, :smack:, :D, or :eek: (particularly the first two) as though as perfect. ---

How about [one like this](http://www.rr-bb.com/images/smilies/puke.gif) for a puking smilie? I don’t know where that particular board gets their smilies, but they also use V-Bulletin software, if that means anything. ---

It may not be perfectly appropriate to bring it up in this thread, but I would like to abolish all smileys. Every one of them. Or, barring that, have unstable rotating smileys. You insert a smiley, but it changes to Happy orthodox, or to puking next time you log in. ---

I love Happy Orthodox smiley and have seen him used well in the past. The putz smiley seems pointless, since the smile basically negates the “putz” balloon. Maybe if he didn’t look so happy . . . The smile part could be replaced with :mad: That would at least make more sense. I don’t care for a vomitting smiley. That’s just gross. And I agree that the blow job smiley has got to go. I would be very sorry to see Orthodox smiley leave. He’s got charisma. That said, my favorite smiley is :dubious: It’s the perfect smiley for the Straight Dope. ---

I’d like to see another thread like we did last time: nominations accepted up until a certain cutoff date, voting up until another cutoff date, one smilie accepted to be added to the board. I would also like a referendum on fixing the smilies that need to be fixed in order to work. An embarrassed smilie would be nice to have; :o ain’t it. Something more like [this](http://home.earthlink.net/~ahunter03/Stuff/Embarrassed.jpg) is needed. This 😃 is supposed to be a grinning smilie. It should look more evil and snarky, [like this](http://home.earthlink.net/~ahunter03/Stuff/GrinSmilie.jpg). The existing one looks like some kind of self-effacing forelock-tugging fella. ---

The problem with the pukey smiley is that it would itself need a pukey smiley. Can some of the Lords of the Boards weigh in and tell us what the actual process is, if there is one? (And by the way, I prefer the “smiley” spelling by miles over “smilie.”) ---

I help run another board, so I’d imagine the process is similar: 1. upload smil **ey** (if you insist) graphic to board’s “smiley storage” directory. 2. “Allow” smiley, which includes telling the software which code to respond to - on ours it’s :barf:. 3. Hit “submit”. Takes about 3 minutes to do.
