I’m not allowed to buy yarn until either this sweater or the shawl is bound off. To make sticking to this resolution more likely, I’m staying out of LYS and Big Box Craft store range as well.

Really, it’s not like I’ve got any mental energy left over to start more projects with these on the needles, and the warm weather is making me nervous about my ability to finish the sweater before the weather warms up (20 more rows on the body, plus one whole sleeve and a long cuff on the other). The shawl is more than halfway done, and doesn’t feel like it–it’s long and skinny and striped right now.

I came THIS close to buying three skeins in blue and two shades of green… at $17 a skein… I SO did not need that 51 dollars worth of pretty yarn. I was a good girl and didn’t buy it. But now I has a sad. ☹

I bought a bunch of merino yarn for my Swing Thing project and I want to make love to the stuff, it’s so soft and nice. Help!

I stopped by a fabric/yarn store, that was reputed to have good prices on commerical type yarns (bernat, Lion brand, etc), and to my surprise they had some Mochi Plus (which is a single ply thick-thin self-striping merino, a lot like Noro Kureyon, but MUCH softer). They were down to the dregs but I got a skein to try and it was soooo nommy, I had to start making a hat immediately. Kinda pricey ($8 - 50g - 95 yds) but wow I love this yarn!

I don’t think I could ever knit a full sweater. I’m about 70% done with Swing Thing - a sweater for a 2 year old - and already I’m bored with it. :smack:

Have made hobo gloves for both brother and me in the meantime and started the cardigan I linked up there somewhere. Very easy, but it’s looking like I might not have quite enough yarn for it. Might have to fill in with some Wool-Ease in a complimentary color…

ETA: Forgot to say: cute hat, **Hello Again**.

I’ve been a busy little bee. New stuffed toy for my friend’s baby:

The parts have been completed for a while, I’m just dead lazy at finishing off.

I thought I could FO my felted handbag, but the cord I thought I could use to sew on the handles was MUCH too thick and coarse. Dammit.

Cute dinosaur!

Almost finished with the body of the Swing Thing cardigan. Just a few more rows of garter stitch and then I can start on the sleeves. After I finish this thing I’m going to work on Willoughby.

Very cute!

I’m in the midst of making this hat:

> **[Annoyed Monster Hat pattern by Maura Houston](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/annoyed-monster-hat)**
>
> This hat is most knitted. Although it does have some crochet in it for the eyeball. If you can’t, or don’t want to crochet, the eyeball can be knitted, but I find to make circles like these, it is easier with crochet. Also, another option is to cut...

For all the kidlettes I know. My best friend’s little boy has a brain tumour (well, had one - he’s had surgery) and needs hats to keep his poor little noggin warm (he’s lost his hair due to radiation/chemo) so I’m making a bunch of fun ones.

If anyone has cute patterns I’d love them! Crochet is probably out though - I R dum in that regard. 🙂

No, crochet is dead easy (I can’t knit worth a damn).

Crochetville is the message board for all things crochetly, and on Ravelry you can join the “Crochet Liberation Front” Group.

Lion Brand has some good instructions:

Prefer video? A amigurumi designer I like has a lot of good videos on her website, including video of all major stitches and liots of other helpful tips too.

By the way, there are multiple ways to hold the yarn, to hold the hook, and even how to “yarn over” – ALL are correct. Just do wat feels comfortable and gives you a consistent result.

LOL. Those are hilarious!

Still knitting the sleeves for [Swing Thing](http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/swing-thing). I’m a bit skeptical if it’ll be nice enough to give as a present - it looks a bit lumpy - but hopefully blocking will take care of that.

Next is knitting [this hat](http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-miss-muffet-3) to go with it. Or [this hat](http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/miss-dashwood).

Those hats are hilarious, **alice**. Pity my niece and nephew have gotten so big (16 and 12); they’re far too dignified for silly hats.

Cute dinosaur,\*\* HelloAgain\*\*.

I’m about done with the cardigan. Sleeves turned out to be 3/4. I’m crocheting an edge on them and on the bottom, maybe for the collar too. Then I need to sew buttons on and I’ll be done. It’s definitely not perfect, but it’s warm and, since the yarn is re-used from a thrift-shop sweater, it was quite economical. I’m going to do another sweater shortly; not sure what pattern yet, though.

FINALLY I have finished the cardigan I was knitting for boyfriend’s niece.

[Here it is.](http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x163/faeriehazel/swingthing02.jpg)

[Close up of buttons.](http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x163/faeriehazel/swingthing03.jpg)

I’m not 100% happy with it - it was my first time doing things like picking up stitches and making buttonloops so parts of it are a bit sloppily done. Also, the yarn was very soft and floppy and split easily, so not very easy to work with. I KNOW I can do better next time.
