Sorry to get this in so late after the Aug. 5th deadline, but I highly recommend “Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone.”

You can’t get a more “B-Movie” title than that. However, aside from some occaisionally embarrasing “future-dialogue,” the flick has some character that I found missing in the Star Wars prequels, mainly that of a rough-around-the-edges lead character heavily drawn from a Han Solo / Mad Max / Indiana Jones type character.

Hey You! - that’s Spacehunter with Peter Strauss, right? Sure looks wonderfully trashy.

Oh dang, I totally forgot my collection of worst movies ever- Delivery Boys (log line is “Oh boy do they deliver”- it’s about the crazy world of breakin’, too, and involves a heartwarming campfire scene at the end where clips of the movie are rehashed), and Hollywood High (I and II) more soft core porn, really, with classic lines like “They’re talking board ons and we’re thinking hard ons!” Golden days of cinema…

To appreciate **Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone** in its fully trashiness, you really have to see it in the original 3-D. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any home versions that preserve this unique feature of it.

And the best thing about \*\*Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone \*\* is that you get to see a yound Molly Ringwald.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the Kevin Costner trifecta:
**The Postman
Waterworld
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves**

9 hours of wooden headed acting.

Thanks; my apologies too if I waxed a bit too rankled.

Here’s kind of my ‘philosophy’ in re discussing artistic issues. When you debate a matter of concrete factuality, it’s kind of a requirement that you’re at least moderately well versed in the facts of the subject at hand. With matters of artistic opinion, where there can be no factuality as such, I guess I kind of expect someone who enters such a debate to come armed with what I see as the parallel of facts in a factual discussion: well considered, informed opinions. Thus I _do_ get a bit rankled when I’m discussing, say, a movie with someone who offers little more than the opinion of others (critical consensus does not rise to the level of factual truth), and who may or may not even have seen the movie in question (absent your specific claim, I can’t tell one way or the other).

Excuse the snooty tone, dantheman; it’s intentional. I mean to communicate that, yes, I _do_ get a bit snooty in matters of artistic opinion (for which I decided long ago never to apologize; one must, I believe, distinguish—at least for oneself—good art from bad, which is ultimately a kind of elitism). But it’s not at all personal: I make no assumptions at all about you psersonally based on this single limited exchange regarding a single, highly debatable, subject. I may have let you in for a little of my long-standing perturbation at the _many_ passengers on the “Let’s trash _Ishtar_!” bandwagon.

Actually, one of the great benefits of threads like these is that they’ll inevitably open one up to movies that have been overlooked. As movies are possibly the most subjective medium around, it’s only natural that people approach them in different manners, as they are looking for different things. (Reminds me of that thread way back when about the movies one really disliked that everyone else loved - threads such as that one and this one are certain to evince tough debates.)

THE BLACK GESTAPO: truly awful but funny blaxploitation film, with evil white gangster types and a jive soundtrack.

ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST (aka DR. BUTCHER M.D.) Features zombies, cannibals, evil scientists, nudity, stupidity, and more.

A BETTER PLACE: some friend of Kevin Smith’s tried to make a serious teen angst film and it’s more laughable than any TV Afterschool special, except it’s got a little blood in it. The acting is positively rancid.

DU-BEAT-E-O: about a director trying to edit a Joan Jett concert film…it makes no sense whatsoever, and for some incomprehensible reason, the infamous “rape-rock” pervert El Duce (of The Mentors) was hired to write narration.

A few more B movies (but I think all of these were _striving_ to be “B” movies):

Tank Girl
Space Truckers
Swamp Thing
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension
Johnny Mnemonic
Knight Riders
Nuke 'Em High
Basket Case

Just about anything Joe Bob Briggs gives two or more stars to. If he sez “Check it out”, check it out.

No one’s mentioned **Kull the Conqueror** yet? It’s the most hilariously, delightfully hideously awful movie!! I love it! It stars Kevin Sorbo’s body and Tia Carrere in an awful red wig. It’s not to be missed. Here’s the tagline: Kull reigns. Kull rules. Kull rocks.

Yeah! 😃

Oh yeah, I second that. I’ve been hoping to see it again for more than a decade, so I could relieve its campy-goodness.

My suggestion, though stars a Cory (Haim) \*\* Prayer of the Rollerboys\*\*. It’s terrible, yet oddly compelling…

I have to say that I object to **Lake Placid** being lumped in the “so bad it’s good” category. I think it’s a great film, because the characters and dialogue rise about the “monster/mutant animal chomping on humans” genre. Put this movie on a triple bill with **Jaws** and **Tremors** and you got yourself six-seven hours of solid entertainment.

Cheap chop-socky flicks, especially in the post-Bruce Lee/pre-Jackie Chan period, are definite fodder for “SBIG” filmfests. Any movie with a title like **Bruce Lee Fights Back from the Grave** has gotta be worth seeing just how bad it is. Not to mention the hilarious **Exit The Dragon, Enter The Tiger**. (Sounds like unspeakable acts performed in a veterenarian’s office). You wonder if any of the guys who make these movies ever actually
\*watched \* Bruce Lee in action. No comparison! It’s like watching Curly of the Three Stooges try to do Fred Astaire’s moves. OTOH, Curly would be _trying_ to get laughed at…
