# Can you buy Bologna in Bologna?

That reminded me of an old joke that goes like:

“I had a german girlfriend once. We stopped by a bagel shop. She said” ‘you know in germany it’s so hard to find a decent bagel!’ I said: ‘well who’s fault is that??!’

A ring doughnut is just one type of doughnut (though it is the most iconic one). They are not required to have holes. We have jelly doughnuts, and they do not have holes.

You can get [Trail Bologna](http://www.troyerstrail.com/) in Trail, Ohio. Because, er, that’s where it was originally made (until they moved a bit east to Dundee).

That’s an Emo Philips joke, IIRC. In any case, it really works well if you imagine him telling it in that voice.

There’s a hybrid version we have around here where a ring donut is cream-filled around the ring. It’s…different. When it’s not gushy through the fill hole, it’s as dry as styrofoam.
