Can you get 'chipper' chips in the US anywhere?

In addition to local places that make their own, In and Out and Five Guys are chains that advertise fresh-made fries.

They used to sell “jo-jos” at convenience stores years ago.

They aren’t cut the same, but the potato-y-ist fried potato things are at BW3. They use potato slices and call them by the dreadful name of buffalo chips.

The Arthur Treacher’s near here has the ripple-cut long steak fries.

Wendy’s fries are nothing like chips. In the UK the french fries (“chips”) are thicker but also have a different texture - they have a moist yet mealy interior. They are often limp so that when pressure is applied they can bend, rather than snap in two as is inevitably the case in the US. Of course, the fast food joints have the American style fries, but in restaurants it’s chips that are usually served.

And to answer the OP’s question, I have never seen UK-style chips in the US.
