# Can you help me get Cortana working in Windows 10?

I did the Windows 10 update today\* and tried to use Cortana but the program doesn’t seem to be working correctly.

The program recognizes every word I say accurately, but always returns “something went wrong” in reply. Yet, if I type the words in instead of saying them, it does exactly what it should, no error message.

For example, if I say “Hey Cortana, set an alarm for five o’clock”, then it displays the text ‘set an alarm for five o’clock’ (which means it understood the words I said) but then only gives me the “something went wrong” error message in response.

Meanwhile if I instead _type_ “set an alarm for five o’clock” it does exactly what I asked it to do.

Any ideas?

Again, it doesn’t seem to be a failure to recognize the words I’m saying, since it displays the words back to me and they are accurate. It seems, rather, to be unable to actually _respond_ to voice commands, even though it can hear them accurately. Meanwhile, typed commands work fine.
