This statement - “They have beautiful flowers that look similar to the … snapdragon, but they are attached differently.” and the pictures, don’t show very well the type of attachment that these flowers exhibit. Nonetheless, the description of the seed pods makes me think that it’s a type of touch-me-not.
I had found out about this last year, but it was not yet available outside of the U.S. I just checked and it is now. Thank you for reminding me about this option.
For the OP, I opened Chrome on my iphone and clicked on the image search. I then got a Google Lens prompt and could search for the plant.
In my case, I wanted to identify Yarrow. I’ve also used the image search in Chrome to identify weeds.
My backyard is full of jewelweed. I keep it because the flowers are beautiful, the bumblebees, hummingbirds, and other native pollinators love it, and its easy to pull up (weak root system) if i need some space for real gardening (and it spreads like hell due to the exploding seed pods so some culling is necessary sometimes).
I like it too, I haven’t seen it this thick in a few years. Quite prolific for a self seeding annual.
