Can You Pass the Fat Quiz?

I got 9/12…

I got caught up on the first one (Do you weigh more after eating). Literally, the answer is true, but it seemed like such a stupid question I second-guessed myself and assumed it meant your actual permanent body weight. I suppose some people would get discouraged if the weighed themselves straight after eating, but to me the question was like ‘Do you weigh more when you hold six kilograms worth of bricks?’

The next question that threw me was ow many calories turn into a pound. First of all, that should be Calories, not calories, but it was obvious what they meant. But I don’t do calories, and I don’t do pounds. Kilojoules and kilograms, please.*

The third question I got wrong was the eating late/metabolism one. While your metabolism might work the same when you sleep, eating late can disrupt your sleep, which in turn can disrupt your metabolism. So there, suck on that.

[sulk]I deserve full marks![/sulk]

*Not that I know the answer in metric. It’s the principle of the thing, damnit!

9/12

If a pound has 3,500 calories, why don’t you gain a pound if you over-eat by 3,500 calories?

Is it one of those “Well, in order to eat the 3,500 calories you burn 20, so it’s not quite a pound you’re gaining” answers?

The ironic thing is that a Calorie (ie, kilocalorie) IS metric (energy needed to raise one kilogram of water by one degree Centigrade.) So they are asking how much energy, in metric, can a pound, an English unit, converts into. Kinda silly in and of itself.

But I did get that one right, but overall got 8/12.

Edit:

The question didn’t say you overeat by 3500 Calories, just that you eat 3500 Calories, so you only overate by about 1,500 Calories, since most people need about 2000 daily.

12/12 and I’ve never paid much attention to nutrition related stuff. They all just seemed like common sense to me.
