I need to give Pinotage another go. I’ve been out of the wine loop for about a decade, and I found Pinotage to be almost undrinkable back in those days…it had a “rubbery” aroma/flavor that I found off-putting in just about every example I tried. I have to concede a limited exposure to these wines…I am hearing that they have improved. Everything I tried came from Stellenbosch. Perhaps the wine growing regions of SA have expanded.

Never tried Pinotage, but I did find a rubbery taste in a box Pinot Noir I tried once. In fact I thought it might have been the container leaking some of its flavor.

It is greatly improved. Try some of the Overberg or Coastal ones (Diemersfontein in Wellington produces the best Pinotage, IMO).
