I really like Crimetown (http://www.crimetownshow.com/) about organized crime and how it impacts a city. So far there is only one season, but it’s really compelling.
I also really like Heavyweight https://www.gimletmedia.com/heavyweight/
No one has mentioned The Memory Palace yet - my favorite podcast.

If you likes ya some straight ahead jazz, I’ll step in with jazzguys’s podcast. Don in Hawaii and Chris in St. Louis play and talk about jazz for two hours.
Full disclosure: I’m the one who puts the episodes up, after Chris emails me that a show is ready to publish, and given me a description of the show’s contents. Looking through the archives, I see that I’ve been doing this since May, 2013. Also that Chris owes me about four months worth of shows. Don says I should cut him some slack, because he recently moved and has yet to get sufficiently organized to create and catalogue the files.
Don’s coming out to L.A. next week, to produce an evening of jazz. Think I’ll ask him for an update of some sort. And Chris’s new phone number.
Sadly, We Have Concerns published their final episode the other day.![]()
A few that I didn’t see when I skimmed:
2 Dope Queens–stand up comedy, very funny
Do By Friday…not sure exactly how to describe this, but involves the people who made “Cards Against Humanity.” Often very funny.
Someone upthread mentioned this, but Reply All is fantastic. You must listen to the episodes about the Indian telephone scammers.
The Daily…NYTimes podcast that posts every day–20ish minutes examining a current event in some detail.
Very Bad Wizards–comedy/philosophy podcast
How To Be Amazing–long-form interview, great host.
If you are a fan of Pro Wrestling I am the co-host of SmartMark Alley a super fan based podcast thinger.
Or just goodle SmartMark Alley. We have content on FB, Twitter, IG, YouTube, and Anchor.
I third or fourth Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me. Hilarious!
Most of my podcasts are World of Warcraft casts, so not really interesting to everyone, but if you have any interest at all in Hollywood history, You Must Remember This is a must.
The Rialto Report
It’s about the adult film business of the 1970s, but even if you think it is a subject you have no interest in, it’s still totally worth listening to. For instance, there was a recent episode about a gay porn film called *Centurions of Rome *that had an amazing story about an armored car robbery and the film being eventually owned by Lloyds of London.
…or the one about how Jimi Hendrix’s roadie became a porn producer, with all these amazing side stories about the Who, the Stones, ELP, the Bee Gees…
