# Can you tell me the name of this British cop show from the 70s

One time when I was in the UK I had insomnia and was watching a documentary of a 70s cop show. At first I thought it was a mocumentary of Starsky and Hutch, cause there were a lot of similarities - right down to one of the cops had recorded some music in real life.

I know that is a flimsy description, but dopers have gotten other references with less.

Sounds like [The Sweeney.](http://www.thesweeney.info/) Dennis Waterman did bother the charts at one time, as well as recording the theme tunes to some of his other shows.
