I’m less embarassed than I perhaps should be to admit that I am one of those people for whom farting is never not funny. I’ve been wracking my brain to think of the most dignified scenario possible where it would be so inappropriate to laugh at a fart, and I’m coming up blank. It is just always funny to me. It will always be funny to me. Thank god I married someone exactly like me and we’re not reproducing. ---

Also funny is if you are in a quiet place, say, like a library, and you hear/smell something disagreeable, and turn to the person next to you with this shocked/incredulous expression. Its amazing how readily someone will implicate themselves in an over-defensive manner, i.e. “WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT?! I DID NOT FART IN THE ELEVATOR!” ssshhhh lady! This is a _Library_ ! :rolleyes: ---

I’m in the “farts are hardly ever funny” camp. And belches are categorically “never funny.” I have a great sense of humor, but I generally just feel embarrassed for the person who farts. I don’t know if a particular person is going to be amused or embarrassed, so I would rather just avoid the awkwardness and ignore the fart. And that prevents me from finding it funny, I guess. ---

The only kind I find not funny are those accompanied by a bit of seepage. Then you have to do the goofy walk to the rest room. Wasting a good SBD while alone can be disappointing too. ---

Laying in the dark, with very little ammo left, surrounded by the enemy who then begin slaughtering your buddies. And the one who farted does not die. Nope, not even many years later is it remotely funny. YMMV ---

This is what I was going to say! A friend of mine had a girl do that to him and he was squicked out for years afterwards, seriously, bigtime. However, I still think most farts are funny. I have a student that can very nearly fart on command, and then he laughs hysterically. Of course, then the entire class cracks up, including me. The farts in question are loud but not really smelly, which makes it less gross. But even if they smelled, I’m sure I’d still laugh. My dad always made jokes when he’d fart, so maybe that’s why I think it’s amusing. As Eddie Murphy said, “it’s the fart game, son. Someday you’ll play too.” ---
