Canada believes in censorship

When I heard about the ban, I thought it had to do with “banging on the bongos like a chimpanzee” being a loosely racist metaphor.

Not women, chicks.

Anyways, it looks like the actual governmental body has just told the private body to reconsider its censoring ways. Am I still supposed to feel oppressed?

I’m amused at the passive-aggressive feel of the CRTC’s instructions.

In case anyone was wondering:

We can hear the original version once more. However I doubt any radio stations will still play it.

I continue to be outraged - Mark Knopfler is arrogantly showing guitar skills far beyond the average and flaunts this fact at every opportunity. Until such time as his playing and songwriting can show acceptable levels of mediocrity, I urge the CRTC to ban all versions of this song that feature Mr. Knopfler’s chops.

Why not? I’m sure I’ve heard in on a Toronto radio station in the past couple of years.
