I live in Ottawa and work at a building that was at ground zero for the protest. Calling it an “inconvenience” is underselling how problematic and disruptive it was by an absurd degree. Residents were trapped and had their lives disrupted nearly 24x7. If someone wants to criticize the Trudeau government for doing nothing about it for weeks and then immediately going to 11, I think there’s something to that. He had support in that from Ford and Sloly though. ---

This is not remotely my argument. I was also against the Liberals doing this the way they did. But blocking bridges and disrupting millions of dollars of goods is not okay, nor is disrupting railroads or highways, no matter which group is protesting. Shitting down malls and businesses is not okay. People have every right to protest peacefully for a limited time in lawful ways. ---

I didn’t say it was alright, and had you bothered to go back and check you’d know I opposed the use of the Emergencies Act. But it’s not a CRIME. Learn the difference. ---

Re: the truckers’ protest: I disagree with what they were protesting, but I _ **do** _ believe they have the absolute right to protest, and for that protest to be disruptive—even if that means delaying the flow of goods and blocking “millions of dollars.” That’s how truckers demonstrate the importance of their role in society. The constant horn-honking, however, rises to the level of assault, which is not okay. Protests are loud, yes, and that’s part of the disruption. But above a certain decibel level over a certain period, that is absolutely unacceptable. I’m not prepared to debate where that line is, but it was certainly crossed. ---

If it wasn’t truckers, paralyzing the capital, blocking busiest border crossing, etc. it would be called something else. It was a siege, nothing less. When First Nations did it the police shot Dudley George, and they had only blocked a single passage, over an actual land dispute. Let’s not forget how the truckers boasted, on tv, about bringing their children so police won’t move against them. Their children used as shields. Shiver, that’s who they are. ---

The government doesn’t constrain itself by making violations of the charter criminal as they are the ones who would be doing the violation. On the other hand, if you or I were to find a way to seize someone’s bank account there would be a related crime even if it was done in a supposed good cause, at least in our minds. ---

Yeah, I cannot see nine seats in Alberta. It will be interesting to see what happens in Lethbridge riding. It is traditionally Conservative, but this time, the Liberal candidate is a very popular former mayor of Lethbridge. He’s got a lot of friends, knows almost everybody in town (or at least, has met them), and has got a lot of people thinking. Like I said, it will be interesting. ---

One thing I saw recently, that to me typified PP’s stupidity or lack of awareness or something, was a statement about “chaos in the streets”, that he would prevent. The only “chaos in the streets” that I’ve seen in Canada recently was the stupid freedom convoy, which PP supported. He really is clueless. ---
