# Canadian Dopers: Why is Quebec excluded from so many contests?

Well why?

When ever I see contests on TV, they almost always are never valid in the province of Quebec.

The only guess I have is because they are a “distinct society”. Am I close?

Quebec has different (more restrictive?) laws regarding contests. Most contests just exclude Quebec instead of dealing with separate rules.
