# Candida Royalle - producer, director and actress dies

☹ damn. She was one of my absolute favorites from the vintage and golden era of adult film. She was the first with the vision to produce and direct films marketed for couples. The adult cinemas primarily catered to the raincoat crowd.
Candida created her company,[Femme Productions](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Femme_Productions)and focused on selling through the home video market. A lot of her company’s films could be rented in any Mom and Pop video rental store in the 80’s and 90’s. My wife and I enjoyed several of the films her company produced in the 80’s.
She was equally talented as an actress and comedian. There are some hilarious scenes in Hot Saucy Pizza Girls. She and Desiree Cousteau.are so funny and blistering hot in this film. It’s the film I recommend first to anyone interested in seeing a classic adult film.
Candida Royalle , Desiree Cousteau, Marilyn Chambers, and Laurien Dominique were four of the classic era’s very best. Laurien died of cancer in 1986. Marilyn Chambers died in 2009 (heart attack). No one is sure what happened to Desiree. She just disappeared in the late 80’s.

Candida in 1979. Gorgeous woman, smart and talented. The complete package. She retired from acting quite young to focus on her production company and directing.
