This list is way too America centric. Why isn’t there a mention of [Gina Hancock](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gina_Rinehart), the richest person in Australia. She is infamous for butchering Australia’s landscape, inheriting her fortune and t[hen criticising the poor](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2198868/Gina-Rinehart-Worlds-richest-woman-calls-Australian-workers-paid-2-day.html). (That is, everyone else but her) Even her own children have disowned her. ---

For what it’s worth, I think people like Palin and Bachmann should have their own category of “willfully ignorant and perennially stupid”. ---

And in case anyone missed it, please let me restate that the[Lea Thompson](http://www.nbcnews.com/id/3949442/ns/dateline_nbc/t/lea-thompson/#.U6C2V7HwOQo) (that webpage is from NBC and very slanted, but it’s all I could find) I nominated is the TV Journalist from NBC who set off an anti-vaccine panic way back in 1982, and is in no way related to the actress [Lea Thompson](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000670/), whose views on vaccination, as far as I know, are not public. ---

I would hazard that fully 50% of the candidates already mentioned belong in that category more than the one I have assigned them to. I could be wrong but willfully stupid seems to be a new fashion (if 20th Century entertainment and politics can be regarded as “new.”) ---
