Our theater may have had those in a different packaging called Mobius Lupes.

Wow, what a trip down memory lane! Some that I don;t think anyone has mentioned are

Bottle caps - bottle cap shaped sweet tart like things that came in flavors like cherry and lemon lime and root beer

Smarties - small sweet tarts that came in pastel colors (these might still be around)

Freshen up gum - “The gum that goes squirt”

I don’t rmember what it was called, but it was little yellow pieces of gum shaped to look like gold nuggets and they came in a little cloth bag.

Abba Zabba - taffy bar with peanut butter in the middle (these might also still be around )

I remember it as [Gold Rush](http://www.normansaunders.com/ToppsBoxes/64-GoldRushBox.jpg). But it looks like there are a lot of knock-offs out there: a quick Google revealed Gold Rocks, Gold Mine, and Gold Nuggets brands.

[Gold Mine Nuggets](http://www.victoryseeds.com/candystore/gum_gold_mine.html). There was a popcorn-flavored gum, too, I think.

And I remember flying saucers…little UFOs made out of very thin cracker (reminded altar boy me of communion host) with little candy beads inside. You let the cracker melt in your mouth and the beads would come out.

[Found them](http://www.oldtimecandy.com/satellite-wafer.htm).

My favorite candy was Mountain Bar. Shaped as a hemisphere with chocolate, peanuts, and creamy vanilla goo on the inside. Yum!

Last October I went to the North Carolina State Fair and there was a booth called something like The Candy Castle where you got a bucket and walked through a maze filling it with candy, then paid for it by the pound. They had a bunch of stuff I hadn’t seen in years, including Mary Janes and Bit-O-Honeys.

I have an unopened Reggie Bar that’s been in a freezer for over 26 years. I wonder if I’d get any takers if I put it on eBay.

[You can still get them.](https://www.brown-haley.com/tmpl_catalog.php?category=7) I could never eat them (allergies are a bitch) but I always liked their old ad slogan: “They’re only ugly until you taste them.”

Here’s one that’s pretty obscure: Nestle’s Triple Decker Bar. It was only on the market from about 1969 to 1971. I remember it was one of the first candy bars that had white chocolate.

My go-to movie candy as a kid was Lemonheads. Or, less frequently, Junior Mints.

These days, it’s usually Goobers or Peanut M&Ms.

😛 on Lemonheads. They always tasted like Lemon Pledge smelled to me…more chemical than lemon. Everything else you mentioned goes to Candy Heaven, though.

Thanks, **Biffy** and **jayjay**. That’s exactly what I was thinking of. Which brings to mind another novelty gum. Does anyone remember gum that came in a plastic tooth shaped container? I don’t remember if the gum was shaped like teeth or not.

I had one of those “Oh, my god!” moments reading this post. I do remember that! Unfortunately, the only thing that came up on Google was a flickr page that I can’t access at work.

Apparently, it was called Big Tooth Gum.

I still like them, kind of. They’re that really smooth chocolate that melts in your mouth.

Then there was the Necco (New England Candy COmpany) candies;
the [NECCO Wafers](http://www.necco.com/OurBrands/Default.asp?BrandID=7), one of their “redeeming qualities being;”

[QUOTE=Necco]
The U.S. Government requisitioned a major portion of the production of NECCO Wafers during World War II\*. **The candy doesn’t melt and is practically indestructible during transit** , making it perfect for shipping overseas to the troops\*.

Today, NECCO produces approximately four billion wafers on an annual basis. If the Wafers were placed edge to edge, they would go around the world twice. **A whole roll takes about 40 minutes to eat**. What other candy bar can make that claim\*\*\*\*\*?

In addition, creative NECCO Wafer fans have invented various additional uses for Necco Wafers over the years. **They have been used as poker chips, for practice before a first communion** \*\* and as bulls-eyes at target ranges\*\*\*\*\*\*\*. If only Oliver Chase could have known.

NECCO doesn’t tamper with success and NECCO Wafers just keep rolling along.

[/quote]

Hmm, a practically indestructible, non-melting candy, sounds _appetizing_, eh?, then again, they _did_ taste rather bland and chalky, especially the licorice wafers

Necco’s [Sky Bar](http://www.necco.com/OurBrands/Default.asp?BrandID=11) OTOH, makes up for the bland chalkiness of the Wafers by actually being a pretty good and unique chocolate bar, four seperate “pillows” of filling (like the Cadbury Caramello), fudge, caramel, peanut and vanilla nougat

- They neglected to tell Necco that they were _actually_ dropping them on the Axis troops as WMT’s (Weapons of Massive Tastelessness), their “Indestructible” nature made them great additions to the Allied bomb arsenals, Necco Wafer Shrapnel was highly feared by _all_ Axis troops, a German trooper injured by Necco Wafer shrapnel was almost guaranteed to earn the Iron Cross 😉
\*\* Thanks to it’s agressive chalkiness and blandness
\*\*\* Only ones that taste like flavoured pieces of blackboard chalk, I guess…
\*\*\*\* something tells me the poker chips would taste better than the Necco Wafers, and I don’t think it’s a good idea to compare yourself to the infamous "Magic Cracker, it’s the world standard for blandness and tastelessness…
\*\*\*\*\* Finally, a practical, logical use for these chalky monstrosities, and being “practically indestructible”, they’d do quite well in this capacity, just watch out for ricochets… 😉
