What about disease? Eating human flesh would be the quickest way to transmit the diseases most dangerous to humans. Perhaps the societies that did this died off, leaving those societies with an aversion to cannibalism to survive - us. Evolution in action! ---

In the Denzel Washington post-apocalyptic movie _The Book of Eli_, cannibalism is alluded to several times, and in one scene the Washington character holds his hands out to show they’re not shaking, i.e. he hasn’t eaten anyone’s brains and gotten kuru. ---
