# Can't Edit

I can post and reply but I’m not allowed to edit my posts anymore. Using my username and password correctly so what gives?

from the [FAQ](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/index.php?action=faq#edit):  
“Can I edit my own posts?  
Only moderators and administrators can edit and delete posts.”

Also, at the top of the reply page and at the bottom of all other pages, you will see the text in small print “Changes: Messages CANNOT be edited by their author. Messages CANNOT be deleted by their author.”

Anymore?

When could you have ever edited your post before?

The only time you can edit, is if you preview.

Maybe you’re confusing us with a different board?

Also, if anyone’s wondering why we don’t allow editing, take a look at my reply in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=98777&pagenumber=2), about 3/4 the way down.
